Twilio Segment S2S Tracking Integration

Vibe.co offers server-to-server (S2S) conversion tracking through the Vibe Conversions destination in Twilio Segment.

Install Vibe Pixel S2S Tracking in Segment

Vibe.co offers server-to-server (S2S) conversion tracking through the Vibe Conversions destination in Twilio Segment. Once connected, Segment sends your conversion events (like purchases, sign-ups, and page views) directly to Vibe, where each event is matched to a household by IP address and attributed to your Vibe campaigns. No JavaScript code is required on your site. This guide walks through setting it up step by step.

Note: The Vibe Conversions destination is currently in Public Beta and may change before general availability.

Before You Begin: Remove Any Existing Vibe Pixel

If you already have a Vibe pixel installed on your website (for example, through Google Tag Manager, Shopify, or directly in your site code), remove it before setting up the Segment S2S integration. Running both at the same time will send the same conversions to Vibe twice, which leads to duplicate events and inflated reporting.

  1. Locate where your existing Vibe pixel is installed (your site header, tag manager, or ecommerce platform).

  2. Remove or disable the Vibe page view and event pixel code.

  3. Publish or save your changes.

  4. Continue with Step 1 below.

Step 1: Find Your Vibe Pixel ID

  1. Visit the Tracking page under the Settings menu in your Vibe account.

  2. Click Set up a pixel and select Twilio Segment from the menu.

  3. Click Continue and select your advertiser.

  4. Click Continue and copy your Pixel ID.

You will paste this Pixel ID into Segment in Step 3.

Step 2: Add the Vibe Conversions Destination in Segment

  1. Log in to your Segment workspace.

  2. Open the Vibe Conversions destination directly, or go to your Destination catalog and search for Vibe Conversions.

  3. Select Vibe Conversions and click Add destination.

  4. Select an existing source to connect to Vibe Conversions.

Step 3: Enter Your Pixel ID

  1. In the destination's Settings tab, paste your Vibe Pixel ID from Step 1.

  2. Save your changes.

The Pixel ID is the only setting required to connect Segment to your Vibe account.

Step 4: Review Your Event Mappings

Go to the Mappings tab. The destination includes three prebuilt mappings that use the Track Conversion action:

Mapping

Triggers on

Vibe event type

Page Viewed

Any page call

page_view

Signed Up

Track event named Signed Up

lead

Order Completed

Track event named Order Completed

purchase

To track another event (like a lead form submission):

  1. Click New Mapping and select Track Conversion.

  2. Set the trigger to match your Segment event name.

  3. Choose an Event Type: call, install, lead, page_view, purchase, or signup.

  4. Save your mapping.

Each mapping sends these fields to Vibe:

  • Required: Event Type, Event ID (defaults to messageId), Timestamp, and IP Address (defaults to context.ip)

  • Optional: Event Data (including Price in USD), Google Analytics ID, User Agent, and Page URL

To send revenue, map the purchase amount to Price (USD) inside Event Data. By default this reads properties.price_usd. If your events store revenue elsewhere (like properties.revenue), update the mapping to point there.

Note: You can create up to 5 mappings per destination.

Step 5: Enable the Destination

  1. Return to the destination's Settings tab.

  2. Toggle the destination on to enable it.

  3. Save your changes.

Conversion events will now flow from Segment to Vibe server-to-server.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Events from a server-side source are rejected for a missing IP address. Vibe matches conversions to households by IP address, so a valid IPv4 address is required. Browser and mobile libraries populate context.ip automatically, but server-side libraries (like Node.js or Python) don't. Set context.ip to the end user's IPv4 address, or map IP Address to another field that contains it.

  • Some events are dropped because of their timestamp. Vibe only accepts conversion events from the last 7 days. Replayed or backfilled historical data older than that is rejected.

  • Revenue isn't showing in Vibe. Confirm Price (USD) in Event Data points to the property that holds your order value.

  • A custom event isn't tracked. Check that the mapping trigger matches the exact Segment event name and that an Event Type is selected.
