1. Overview

CBD advertising rules vary by state and publisher. To help you run campaigns safely and effectively, Vibe automatically detects CBD businesses, asks you to declare your product categories, and applies the correct delivery rules for every state and channel.

Our goal is to maximize your reach while keeping your campaigns compliant with all distribution partners.

2. Automatic Detection of CBD Advertisers

When you create a new advertiser on Vibe, our system reviews your website domain. If CBD-related products or services are detected, your advertiser is marked as a CBD business.

You will then see a dedicated CBD setup experience in your campaign strategies.

3. Strategy-Level Product Declaration

CBD advertisers are required to declare which product categories they want to promote in each strategy. The supported categories are:

  • Topicals and cosmetics

  • Ingestibles

  • Smokables and vapes

  • Pet products

  • Dispensaries and retail stores

This selection appears at the top of each strategy. Your declaration controls where your ads can legally run and which channels are available.

4. How Targeting Is Automatically Adjusted

After you declare your product category, Vibe adapts your targeting options based on a predefined compliance matrix for each state and channel.

Automatic rules include:

  • State-level delivery controls

  • Channel availability (live sports is not available for CBD campaigns)

  • Auto-enforced 21+ targeting

  • Category-specific creative warnings

  • Automatic blocking of geos and channels where the product type is not allowed

6. Dedicated CBD Catalog

CBD advertisers access a dedicated catalog of around 120 apps and channels that accept CBD content.

Live sports is not available for CBD campaigns.

7. Creative Classification and Approval

Every creative uploaded to a CBD strategy goes through two steps:

1. Automatic classification: A model is used to detect the product type shown in the creative.

2. Manual confirmation: A Vibe team member confirms the classification through an internal workflow. This ensures alignment with publisher requirements and regulatory guidelines.

Once a creative is confirmed:

  • It is permanently classified

  • It can be reused across any strategy

  • Classification cannot be changed later

8. Creative Compliance Rules

Depending on your product category, creatives must follow specific guidelines. Examples include:

  • No health claims

  • FDA disclaimers when required

  • No consumption or smoking imagery

  • No glamorization of vaping

  • Enhanced age warnings

  • No animal health claims for pet products

The platform highlights the relevant rules directly inside the creative section.

9. Save and Publish Validation

Before a strategy can be saved or published, Vibe checks:

  • Whether declared product types match the creatives attached

  • Whether creatives have confirmed classifications

  • Whether the strategy is compliant with location and channel rules

If there is a mismatch: your save or publish will be blocked, and you will see an error describing what needs to be fixed.

10. Summary

  • CBD advertisers are detected automatically

  • You declare product categories at strategy level

  • State and channel rules are applied for you

  • 21+ targeting is always enforced

  • Creatives are classified once and can be reused forever

  • Misalignment blocks publishing with clear instructions

  • CBD advertisers get a dedicated inventory catalog
